Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Semiya | vermicelli
  • ¼ cup Chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1 tblsp Un sweetened Cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 2 tblsp Almonds sliced

Instructions

  • Melt ¼ cup chocolate chips in Microwave.
  • This took 2 minutes for me.
  • Alternatively you can melt them using double boiler method too.
  • Keep aside.
  • Add 1 tsp ghee in a heavy bottomed pan
  • Add 1/3 cup roasted vermicelli.
  • You can add ¼ cup too but if you want a thicker consistency add little more.
  • Even if you are using roasted semiya, roast this for a minute.
  • Add 4 cups of milk. Use full cream milk for a creamy chocolate kheer.
  • Mix well.
  • Let this boil in a medium low flame till milk gets reduced to ¾ th.
  • Keep stirring frequently.
  • The semiya also will get cooked.
  • Add 1 tblsp cocoa powder to melted chocolate.
  • Mix well.
  • The melted chocolate sauce will give a nice texture and flavour to the kheer, so do not omit that step.
  • Adding more cocoa powder than mentioned will make the chocolate semiya kheer bitter.
  • Add the chocolate mixture to the pan.
  • Mix well and switch off
  • Add sugar now, I added ¼ cup sugar. If you want more sweeter add little more.
  • Mix it well.
  • Garnish with nuts. I added thinly sliced almonds.
  • You can add chopped pistachios or ghee roasted cashew nuts too.
  • Chocolate semiya kheer ready.
  • Serve chilled
