Karupatti coffee recipe

Traditional Tamilnadu style coffee, made with palm jaggery and coffee powder

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Karupatti | palm jaggery
  • 1 tsp instant coffee powder or decoction as needed
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  • In a saucepan add the karupatti and add 2 cups of water.
  • Allow this to boil for 5 minutes.
  • Filter the Karupatti water.
  • Add 1 tsp instant coffee powder or 1 tbsp of decoction.
  • Mix well and serve hot.
  • Karupatti coffee is ready.

Notes

  1. If you want to add milk add ¼ cup of room temperature milk to this.
  2.  Hot milk may curdle the coffee, so ensure the milk is not hot.
  3.  Karupatti coffee is a perfect one after a heavy breakfast or on a rainy day.
