Soak the dates in warm milk for 15 minutes.Alternatively you can microwave this for few minutes.
When the milk comes to a normal temperature grind this into a smooth paste.
Transfer this to a bowl and add the powdered jaggery or sugar.
You can grind the sugar along with the dates too.
Mix well evenly.
Add oil to this and mix well.
Add flour and baking soda to this.
Mix well gently and evenly.
Add 2 tbsp of chopped walnuts to this and mix well.
Grease a baking tin and line it with a butter paper.
Transfer the dates cake batter to this.
Now dust the remaining walnuts with little flour .
Sprinkle this on the top of the batter.
Dusting with the flour, prevents the walnut from sinking into the dough.
Preheat the oven at 160 degree Celsius for 5 minutes.
Bake at 160 degree Celsius for 30-35 minutes. Mine got over in 32 minutes.
Take out and cool in a wire rack.
When it completely cool, cut into slices.
You can make this in a cake tin too.
