Ingredients

  • 1 cup Yellow moong dal pasi paruppu
  • 3 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 and ¼ tsp sambar powder
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 pinches kasoori methi
  • Salt as needed
  • Water to cook the dal

Instructions

  • In a Pressure Cooker put oil and add the cumin seeds. When it splutters, add the onions and tomatoes one by one. Just saute for 2 mins.
  • Then add the sambar powder and add 2 cups of water.
  • Add the turmeric powder. Let this boil for 3-5 mins.
  • Then add the moong dal and add salt. Close the cooker with lid and cook till 6-7 whistles
  • Then add the sambar powder and add 2 cups of water.

  • When it is done add the milk and boil for 2 mins.
  • Finally, add kasoori methi and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Adding milk gives a creamy texture and kasturi methi gives an exotic flavor.
  • Serve hot with roti/rice.
