Wish all my readers a very Happy and merry Christmas. I actually planned to make Dates and Walnut cake for Christmas, but kids wanted something new. So i got hooked up with this recipe and I referred from here also. I couldn’t even time to take proper pictures as kids were  in a hurry to finish this soon.

  • Bake it in preheated oven at 160 degrees for 40 to 45 mins. My cake got done in 45 mins.

NOTE:

  • Adding orange zest will add a nice flavour to the cake.
  • Instead of using plain soda orange flavored soda can be added.

Hi,
Just happened to come across your site while searching for eggless tuti frutti cake.
I made this cake today and let me tell you the taste is amazing.i added lemon zest which i had at home.
The only thing is It will rise pretty high in the oven, but when you take it out to cool, it will fall. And fall hard.

hi jeyashri
I am a regular reader of ur site..i have tried many items and it has come out well .. today I tried tutty fruit cake for the first time..its taste is awesome but the cake did bulge out and it got sunk …since I am new to beginning I m unable to identify where I went wrong..

Very sorry about the delayed reply. Reg the query, for cake sinking, the usual reason i can think of is oven temperature. if it's too cold or too hot, this can happen. it's possible your oven temperature is a little off (which is very common).

Another could be that the baking powder/soda used was close to expiry. Please check

A very easy to use recipe! Thanks for the share and the Eggless recipe tip you gave at the end.I have also used vinegar and baking powder in a different cake recipe.

Use this egg substitute in cake, only when you require more than one egg for baking. Mix one tablespoon each of white vinegar and water in a glass. To this, add one teaspoon of baking powder and stir well until the mixture blends well. Now, use this egg substitute for your cake recipe.
