Paruppu podi is one of the simplest recipe and we all love this podi with hot rice and papad. any variety of kootu will go will this. Check out my garlic paruppu podi recipe too.

Preparation time: 5 mins| Cooking time:15 minutes| Yields: 1/2 cup plus approx.
INGREDIENTS:

TOOR DAL 1/2 CUP
PEPPER CORNS 1 TSP
RED CHILI 2 NO
ASAFOETIDA 1/4 TSP
SALT AS NEEDED

  • Dry roast the ingredients till the toor dal turns into a golden brown color.

  • When it is cool, grind it into fine powder.

  • Enjoy with hot rice.
  • Garlic flakes can be added while roasting if you like the garlic flavor in the podi

Parupu podi is a savior for me at times jeyashri. A tsp of ghee is what i need if i have some rice. Wonderful clicks.

Paruppu podi is my all time favourite. I make it with chutney daal instead of toor daal. Lovely presentation as always.

Adding crushed garlic makes it more flavorful. As Raji says I make this with pottu kadalai also. Nice pics

Is it the same thing they serve in Andhra restaurant with meals. I used to eat it a lot with white rice and ghee.
