Pudina pulao| mint pulao recipe, a quick and easy lunch box recipe, with full video and step by step instructions. Pudina pulao is a flavourful one-pot meal made using fresh mint leaves and basmati rice. I learnt this version from a friend long back. The recipe is updated with full video now. This pulao can be served as a weeknight dinner too. We can pair it with dal tadka or Paneer butter masala or simple onion raita.
We have many varieties of pulao recipes in Jeyashris kitchen. Recently a friend shared fresh mint leaves from his home garden. This post is widely tried by many readers but I didn’t update the recipe with step by step pictures. So finally after a long due updated, pudina pulao| mint pulao recipe with new pictures and video.
Pudina pulao recipe
Ingredients
- 1 and ¼ cup Basmati rice
- ¼ cup Mint leaves loosely packed
- ¼ cups Coriander leaves loosely packed
- Curry leaves few
- 2 Green chili
- 2 Onion
- ¼ cup Green peas optional
- 1 tsp Garam masala
- ½ tblsp Oil
- 2 tsp Ghee
- Salt as needed
Instructions
- Soak basmati rice in 2 cups water for 10 mins
- Grind ¼ cup mint leaves, ¼ cup coriander leaves, few curry leaves and 2 green chili into a fine paste.
- In a pressure cooker add ½ tblsp oil and 2 tsp ghee
- Add 2 sliced onions and add little salt.
- Saute till the onions become soft.
- Add grind paste the cooker.
- Saute for a minute.
- Add ¼ cup of green peas, if using.
- Mix well and add salt.
- Add 1 tsp of garam masala.
- Add in the soaked rice along with the water.
- Mix well.
- Cover the cooker.
- Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
- Switch off.
- Once the pressure subsides, open the cooker.
- Gently mix the pulao, without mashing it.
- Pudina pulao is ready.

- You can skip the green peas and make it plain mint pulao.

Jeyashri Sabudana vada will not consume more oil it will consume like urad dal vada only.
