Pudina pulao| mint pulao recipe, a quick and easy lunch box recipe, with full video and step by step instructions. Pudina pulao is a flavourful one-pot meal made using fresh mint leaves and basmati rice. I learnt this version from a friend long back. The recipe is updated with full video now. This pulao can be served as a weeknight dinner too. We can pair it with dal tadka or Paneer butter masala or simple onion raita.

We have many varieties of pulao recipes in Jeyashris kitchen. Recently a friend shared fresh mint leaves from his home garden. This post is widely tried by many readers but I didn’t update the recipe with step by step pictures. So finally after a long due updated, pudina pulao| mint pulao recipe with new pictures and video.

Pudina pulao recipe

Easy to make one-pot mint pulao recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 and ¼ cup Basmati rice
  • ¼ cup Mint leaves loosely packed
  • ¼ cups Coriander leaves loosely packed
  • Curry leaves few
  • 2 Green chili
  • 2 Onion
  • ¼ cup Green peas optional
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • ½ tblsp Oil
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • Salt as needed

Instructions

  • Soak basmati rice in 2 cups water for 10 mins
  • Grind ¼ cup mint leaves, ¼ cup coriander leaves, few curry leaves and 2 green chili into a fine paste.
  • In a pressure cooker add ½ tblsp oil and 2 tsp ghee
  • Add 2 sliced onions and add little salt.
  • Saute till the onions become soft.
  • Add grind paste the cooker.
  • Saute for a minute.
  • Add ¼ cup of green peas, if using.
  • Mix well and add salt.
  • Add 1 tsp of garam masala.
  • Add in the soaked rice along with the water.
  • Mix well.
  • Cover the cooker.
  • Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  • Switch off.
  • Once the pressure subsides, open the cooker.
  • Gently mix the pulao, without mashing it.
  • Pudina pulao is ready.

Notes

  1. You can skip the green peas and make it plain mint pulao.
    2. Instead of garam masala, fresh spices can be added in the oil.
    3. This mint pulao is a perfect lunch box recipe.

  • Grind ¼ cup mint leaves, ¼ cup coriander leaves, few curry leaves, and 2 green chilies into a fine paste.

  • Add 2 sliced onions and add a little salt.
  • Saute till the onions become soft.

  • Add 1 tsp of garam masala.

  • Cover the cooker.
  • Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
