SWEET LASSI RECIPE | PUNJABI SWEET LASSI RECIPE

Punjabi-sweet-lassi

Sweet Lassi has wonderful child hood memories in me. We have a shop in my native place where we get Samosa, lassi , badam milk and few other north indian sweets. Those days it is very difficult to find these items in all shops. So whenever we go out for shopping with my mom, before taking the bus back to home, we go to this shop and have a samosa and a tall glass of Lassi. Wow, while writing this , i could feel the taste of the sweet lassi.
Last week Raks visited my house, almost it was 4-5 months , since we met. I called her for lunch but as she is bit busy she just came for  half an hour only. She loves chilled juices and instead of buying a juice from shop, i thought i will make this sweet lassi for her . That day i could't take the clicks but yesterday when i was craving for lassi again i made it , clicked and enjoyed it a lot.

This a very simple chutney which i learnt from my north indian friend,, married to a south indian guy. She cooks both the cuisine very well . We were neighbours few years back but we speak over phone quite often.  Very recently, while talking to her, she was having her breakfast.  She told she was having dosa with kara chutney. Then i suddenly remembered the kara chutney which she makes was so yummy and asked her for the recipe. I made the exact chutney on the same day and enjoyed it with dosa. cooking -for-guests
This 10th week of Cooking for guests recipes comes with a simple and yet a super hit menu. I have made this menu for a group of 5 people who visited us few weeks back. It was a totally a fantastic time and we didn't plan for the meet before. It was just a casual talk in the morning and we all met at our place in the evening. So i don't have much veggies at home and don't have much time to go the shop and buy things too. I planned a meal accordingly and checked my freezer for paneer and peas. Thankfully it was there. I had a huge cauliflower also in my fridge. And i always keep potatoes at home. So i decided to make potato cutlets, peas masala, paneer puloa , cauliflower pepper fry and rotis. I had some store bought chips and ice cream too.
I couldn't click the pictures on that day, but made it on last friday and sharing the same menu today.

Cooking for guest- Brunch This week cooking for guests comes with an interesting South Indian Brunch menu. Generally at our houses we used to eat direct lunch everyday around 11 am, without having breakfast. This is what we call as Brunch. Now a days , when people get up late on a weekend morning , they eat lunch directly around 11 am without making breakfast.  A very few times i have experience of calling guests for Brunch as i find it bit hectic for me to make an elaborate meal and clean the house too by 11 am. I got few requests to post a south indian brunch menu . So in this menu i had made, adai, aviyal, puliyodarai, pineapple kesari and  curd rice.
